What is E waste?

As per the E-Waste (Management) Rules, 2016; which came in force from 1st October 2016, E-Waste refers to the electrical and electronic equipment, whole or in part discarded as waste by the consumers as well as rejects from manufacturing, refurbishment and repair processes. E waste contains substances that can have adverse effect on environment as well as human health.

Often E-waste comprises of toxic chemicals like lead, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, Polychlorinated Biphenyls (PCBs) and Polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs). If not disposed in a scientific way, E-waste can cause negative impacts on environment and human health.

Videojet ensures proper disposal or recycling of printers and its components when they reach their End of Life (EOL) to safeguard public health and reduce environmental pollution.

Steps for safe disposal/ recycling of printers including cartridges by Videojet

  • Videojet manufactured printers are sold or shipped to our customers or retailers;
  • Customers with End of Life (EOL) printers/damaged printers/spare parts/chips from used cartridges should reach out to Videojet’s customer service (contacted via a toll free number – 180030001199) team for potential trade in program or disposal;
  • For collection of electronics chips from printer cartridges, customer should contact Videojet for instructions on how to remove the chip and to arrange transport for the proper disposal;
    Note: Videojet also accepts printers of other companies through its exchange program for proper disposal, subject to certain terms & conditions.
  • Upon receipt of request for trade in program or disposal, depending the location / type of equipment, Videojet either requests the customer to transport the old printer to the nearest retailer or authorizes collection centre to instruct the logistics service provider (GATI) to collect and deliver the printer to the Feeder Warehouse at Dombivali East, Maharashtra;
  • For Lease/Demo, post receipt of printer machines at the feeder warehouse, the technical team will inspect and explore the opportunity for repairing, refurbishing, and recovering parts of the equipment for potential reuse

Printers and parts that are not reused will be collected by the authorized E-waste recycler (in this case M/s ECO Friend Industries) in line with requirements mandated under E-waste (Management) Rules, 2016
